Aethelflaed 2018: open call out for artists & creatives

Help Gloucester celebrate one of its most influential historical figures

2018 marks 1,100 years since the death of Aethelflaed, the most powerful woman of the Anglo-Saxon era, whose remains are buried at St Oswald’s Priory in Gloucester. Gloucester Culture Trust and Marketing Gloucester are looking for artists & creatives to help us celebrate this anniversary.

We have up to £5,000 available and hope to offer at least 2 commissions. You might create a public performance, installation or participatory event. It could involve theatre, music, storytelling or art…. If it entertains & engages a diverse range of the public, is imaginative and shares the story of Aethelflaed – we want to hear from you!

This is part of a wider ‘Aethelflaed 2018’ programme of activities being delivered in Gloucester throughout June and funded by Great Place, Gloucester City Council & Gloucester BID. Please download the brief below to find out more.

Closing date: 5pm, 22nd Feb 2018

Activities to take place between 8th and 12th June 2018
