Great Place: £1.49million awarded to Gloucester

We are thrilled to announce that Gloucester City Council – along with partners including Gloucester Culture Trust (that’s us!), University of Gloucestershire, the NHS, Create Gloucestershire, Gloucester Cathedral and many others – has been awarded £1.49million for a three-year investment in the city’s heritage and arts activity and infrastructure.

Through this work, we aim to ensure that investment in arts and culture also has the biggest possible impact on local economies, jobs, education, community cohesion and health and wellbeing.

The Great Place Scheme is a joint initiative by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England, using funds raised from the National Lottery.

Gloucester is one of 16 places across England that will collectively receive £20 million to put arts and culture at the heart of our communities.

  1. Hi Hollie – I’ve been reading about your appointment as Director of the Gloucester Culture Trust and thought I’d try to say hello.
I run a tourism and leisure marketing and PR company here in College Green, where I have been based since 2000. Before that I was Director of Marketing and then Chief Leisure and Tourism Officer for Gloucester City Council.
I also provided marketing and PR support to the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company from 2005 to 2010.
This is just to wish you luck and say that I’d be delighted to meet you and, if it would be of interest, pass on to you some background information relevant to your work?
If this is of interest, my email is and my ‘phone number is 01452 500663.
I’m sure that you’re fully aware of the work being done re. Project Pilgrim – much of which is currently happening right outside my office window!
