I’m a young person living in Gloucester. How can I get involved?
There are now more chances to take part in arts activities all year round. If you are thinking about setting up a creative business, there will be new space to work, meet and rehearse plus business advice and support to make your creative idea happen. And you can find out about job opportunities to work on the Great Place project team. Please sign up to our mailing list and Like our page on Facebook.
How will the work of Gloucester Culture Trust impact on existing organisations and events in the city?
The purpose of Great Place is to support, develop and build on what is happening in the city and to make sure our cultural offering is as great as it can be. We have an ambition to be UK City of Culture 2025 and the groundwork over the coming years will help to support this goal. Great Place gives us an opportunity to really shout about what Gloucester does and what it could do and to support it.
Are there opportunities to work on the Great Place project?
Yes! The Great Place project will see the creation of a number of exciting new roles in the arts and heritage and all these jobs will be advertised via our mailing list, website and Facebook page.
What happens to the money you have raised for projects?
The budget will be managed by Gloucester Culture Trust over three years. The project aims to have a strong, long-term legacy: it focusses on building the skills, networks, infrastructure and opportunities for the city’s cultural sector to thrive. It will ‘prepare the ground’ for an application to be UK City of Culture 2025. We are therefore working with partners and with people across Gloucester to make sure that everything our projects do contributes to these goals.
Can I still apply to the Arts Council or Heritage Lottery Fund?
Yes! The funding we have, such as Great Place, are specific funds with specific, long-term goals for investment in the city as a whole. Our success here doesn’t prevent anyone from applying for, e.g. Arts Council Lottery funding. If anything, we hope you will be more likely to apply! If you would like to make reference to Gloucester’s cultural strategy in your applications, please get in touch.
