Background
Together Gloucester is an ambitious programme putting communities at the heart of decision making on arts and culture. It will connect people through creative activities across the years. Ultimately, empowering communities to create and take part in range of projects and events that reflect Gloucester’s unique identity.
Rooted in the diverse neighbourhoods of Gloucester, we want to collaborate with everyone to put Gloucester on the map so that it will be recognised for celebrating the creativity of the people who make the city!
People are key. Ten partner organisations working with communities will ignite a collective spirit to develop local people’s skills, support and understand the city’s cultural ecosystem, and provide opportunities for funding.
Why are we doing it?

Make Gloucester a better place to live, work and visit where people know they can engage in fun, cultural activity
Put citizens at the centre of Gloucester’s cultural decision-making process
Improve the health and well-being of communities
Support cross sector organisations to work together
Empower Gloucester’s citizens to celebrate their identity

Connecting – Working together to go far, whether you define this as collaborating, partnership or co-creating. Through working together, we can be progressive, gain access to a broader resource pool, diverse knowledge bases for a bigger return in the future.
Creative – Creativity and culture are human practices of creative expression, storytelling, and cultural participation. Think of how dancing can bring joy. Creativity is a tool that can support a flexible mindset for building a sustainable, inclusive, and equitable future.
Care – For the people in the city, by giving them a voice, supporting people with training and mentoring to address social, cultural, innovation and economic need.

How is it funded?
Together Gloucester is an ambitious scalable project over the next three years.
We’re proud to have already secured investment from Arts Council England, in conjunction with a contribution from Gloucester City Council’s festivals and events budget, and significant investments from project partners. Our journey continues, working with other funders and sponsors to grow this programme for the city.
Together Gloucester has been developed by Gloucester Culture Trust and partners Active Gloucestershire, Gloucester BID, Gloucester City Council, Gloucester Community Building Collective, Gloucestershire Gateway Trust, GUST, The Music Works, University of Gloucestershire and Young Gloucestershire.
